Datuk Jamali Shadat has passed away

2 Feb – Renowned veteran comedian Datuk Jamali Shadat has recently passed away.

The news was confirmed by his son Fauzi Jamali, who said that he realised that his father was gone after his wife Siti Zabedah tried to wake Jamali up for breakfast.

"When he didn't wake up, I called a nearby clinic to check on him. The doctor then confirmed that he had passed away at 8.15am this morning," he said.

Fauzi revealed that the comedian did not show any changes to his condition prior to his death, except that he refused to eat more than usual when being fed by Zabedah. Jamali was bedridden prior to his death.

Jamali will be buried at the Tanah Perkuburan Kampung Sungai in Pelabuhan Klang this afternoon. The comedian, whose wife Lela Yacob passed away in 2018, was succeeded by eight children and 39 grandchildren.

Achieving fame in the 1980s, Datuk Jamali Shadat was most known for his kid character Atan.
