Dato' Ramli MS: "A full-length album is good for longevity!"

1 Nov – Legendary music director Dato' Ramli MS dismisses the idea that he was challenging Aina Abdul when he said that she should release a full album.

The music maestro, who was asked about his previous statement, explained that the reason he said that was for the sake of Aina herself, as well as other singers in the industry.

"When I said that a singer needs an album, what I mean is that the module of producing only singles is not sustainable. When a singer records an album, he guarantees his longevity for perhaps the next 40 years," he said.

"For example, if a singer records one single a year, he needs 15 years to get 15 songs. On the other hand, an album may have 13 to 14 songs altogether, and it will take maybe around five years to get 60 songs. In those 60 songs, there could be around 15 hits. So, these 15 things will guarantee your career in the future."

Ramli named legendary singers like Sheila Majid, Jamal Abdillah and Ella, who have multiple full-length albums.

"When you have 15 hit songs, your concert will never fail," he added.

In a previous interview, Aina stated that she felt challenged and motivated to release her album, "Imaji" following Ramli's statement, saying that she felt like she was being laughed at by her haters over the statement.

"If I can do magic, I would have completed an album at that particular time and show it to him. But I took it as a challenge for me to do it," she added.
