Dato' M. Nasir surprises PMX with a birthday celebration

12 Aug - Dato' M. Nasir recently surprised the Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at his 45th anniversary concert "Cipta" by celebrating the latter's 77th birthday.

The music maestro, who revealed to the audience that the Prime Minister was in the stadium as an honorary guest, initially stated that he would like to perform a P.Ramlee song for him, only to then revealed that the song in question was P.Ramlee's "Allah Selamatkan Kamu", which is a birthday song.

The concert team then presented Anwar with a pulut kuning (turmeric glutinous rice), with M. Nasir then performing the song "Phoenix Bangkit Dari Abu" dedicated to him.

It is noted that "Phoenix Bangkit Dari Abu" is a song about the mythical phoenix bird that never dies but rises from the ashes, and is considered a fight song by many.

The Prime Minister also took to social media to thank M. Nasir for the surprise birthday gift, writing, "I was invited to Axiata Arena last night to attend Konsert Cipta to enjoy the golden voice of the great artiste, M. Nasir. I was impressed when he delivered a tribute song for the struggle of the Palestinian people. Thank you also for celebrating my birthday."
