Darren Wang sports new look for movie

22 Oct - Taiwanese actor Darren Wang has shed his clean cut image and opted for a shaggy look for his new movie, "Journey to the Dream".

As reported on China Times, the actor, who attended the launch of the movie, which also marks the first Chinese movie for Hollywood producers the Russo brothers, appeared with longer hair, stubble and a pair of black-rimmed glasses to complete the look of a desperate writer.

Darren stated that he is ready for a breakthrough, after being recognised for so long as his character Xu Tai Yu in "Our Times".

"My character in the movie is different from what I used to do in the past. I would like to challenge myself so that viewers will not see me play similar roles time and time again," he said.

He also joked that his new look seemed to be a male version of Joe Chen's character Lin Cheng-xin in "Our Times".

It is reported that Wang plays the role of an under-appreciated screenwriter who finds out that he can pass through the dream world, and soon starts to shuttle between dream and reality.
