Daniel Craig is still James Bond, he's just no longer agent 007.

15 Jul – Rumour has it that while Daniel Craig is back as James Bond in "Bond 25", he will no longer be playing Agent 007.

The 007 codename will instead be passed on to a female spy, a film insider informed UK's Daily Mail.

Reportedly, British actress Lashana Lynch, who is starring as Nomi in the 25th Bond movie, will be the one playing the iconic agent.

Nomi is said to be tasked with bringing Bond out of retirement for a new mission. A pivotal scene will show Ralph Fiennes' M saying, "Come in, 007", and Nomi will walk in. Reportedly, Bond will be attracted to the new agent but she will rebuff his advances.

There have been debates as to whether the new 007, once Craig stops reprising his Bond role, will be either black or a woman – if this rumour is true, looks like the sleek spy will be both.

Lynch's most recent big screen outing is as Maria Rambeau in "Captain Marvel". The 31-year-old also plays Arjana Pike in the British series, "Bulletproof", which will be making its US premiere at the end of this month. She will also be starring as Agent 355 in next year's "Y", an American small screen adaptation of the comic book series, "Y: The Last Man".

Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, "Bond 25" experienced some scheduling issues when filming has to be postponed due to Craig sustaining injury on the Jamaica set. Filming has since resumed and the movie is still on track to open in UK cinemas on 3 April 2020 and US cinemas on 8 April 2020.
