Daisy Ridley Confirms Tomb Raider Talks

It looks as though Daisy Ridley could be going from ‘Star Wars’ to ‘Tomb Raider’.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 23-year-old British actress confirmed that she has already been in talks about the upcoming ‘Tomb Raider’ reboot.

“[There] have been conversations,” she admitted at the Empire Awards on Sunday. “I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it’.”

But according to THR, there isn’t a script in place just yet.

Of course, if Ridley does land the coveted role, she’ll be taking over from Angelina Jolie, who played the iconic video game character Lara Croft in all of her big screen outings to date.

And it looks as though she already has the support of her ‘Star Wars’ co-stars.

“I played Tomb Raider the game,” said John Boyega. “It’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version,” he explained. “But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘this is you!’ and ‘you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be.“

The 2013 ‘Tomb Raider’ video game effectively rebooted the iconic game series, focussing on Lara Croft’s younger years in what’s thought to essentially be an origins story. And with Daisy Ridley portraying a tough, desert-living scavenger in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ she seems like a pretty solid choice for the role.

Not to mention that she looks strikingly similar to her video game counterpart.

Will Daisy Ridley pick up the bow and arrow to become the next Lara Croft?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but she’d certainly make an excellent Tomb Raider.
