‘Dahmer’ Debut on Nielsen Streaming Is 10th Most-Watched Ever
Netflix’s “Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” the much-criticized true-crime series about the infamous serial killer starring Evan Peters, has earned the 10th-largest streaming debut on the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 chart in one week with 3.7 billion minutes viewed from Sept. 19 through 25.

The Ryan Murphy title had 2.5 billion viewing minutes over the second program on the Overall List for that week, which was “Cobra Kai” with 1.1 billion minutes viewed. In third and fourth spots were HBO’s “House of the Dragon” and Prime Video’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” Though an acquired title via HBO Max, the “Game of Thrones” sequel edged out the latter with just over 1 billion minutes viewed, as compared to 977 million minutes viewed for “Rings of Power.”
Making its debut on the streaming chart was Disney+’s critically acclaimed “Andor,” which debuted on the streamer on the same day as “Dahmer,” on Sept. 21. Starring Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, the prequel to 2016’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” received 624 million viewing minutes.
Earlier this week, Netflix touted “Dahmer” as its biggest series debut on record. The show — which has been slammed by families of Dahmer’s victims as yet another source of trauma for them — amassed 196.2 million viewing hours in its first five days, making its way to No. 2 on the Most Popular List of English-language TV with 824.2 million hours viewed overall, right behind “Stranger Things 4.”
