CW Developing Martial Law Drama ‘Rise’ From ‘Vampire Diaries’ Exec Producers
With The Vampire Diaries coming to an end after its upcoming eighth season, three of the departing vampire drama’s executive producers — co-creator/showrunner Julie Plec and Chad Fiveash & James Stoteraux, are teaming for a new hourlong project at the CW and Warner Bros. TV.
Rise, from WBTV and Plec’s studio-based My So-Called Company, is set following a terrorist attack. When martial law is declared, a disparate group of everyday people start to uncover that the attack was a cover-up for a homegrown coup. These unlikely heroes rise up against the tyranny of the new governmental regime, planting the seeds of hope and strength that will in time spark a Second American Revolution.
Fiveash and Stoteraux will write the script. They will executive produce with Plec.
In addition to co-creating TVD with Kevin Williamson, Plec created and executive produces and runs spinoff series The Originals. She is repped by WME.
Fiveash and Stoteraux, repped by ICM Partners and attorneys Rick Genow and Allison Binder, previously worked on Switched at Birth.
