A Custom-Designed Apartment at New York City’s Storied River House Lists for $5 Million

Back in the early 1980s—following the death of her husband Andrew Eu, managing director of Hong Kong Television Broadcasts—art and fashion enthusiast Sandra Eu picked up a duplex residence in Manhattan’s exclusive art deco-style River House building, which has long been favored by luminaries ranging from Henry Kissinger and Lady de Rothschild to Uma Thurman.

Sold on the apartment because of its wonderful light and tranquil views of the East River, per a 2006 Met Home article, Eu subsequently undertook an extensive renovation of the premises in collaboration with interior designer John Saladino. Several years later, she called in Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz of BNO Design to freshen up the interiors; and now the stylish digs have popped up for sale, asking a speck under $5 million—or substantially less than its nearly $6 million listing price in 2022.
