SINGAPORE — It takes a whole village to put together a show, and from the stats we have on hand, we’re rather impressed with the manpower involved. Cirque du Soleil’s Big Top tent has emerged in Singapore in in preparation for the much-anticipated season of KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities.

And it’s massive!

The installation was raised by a team of more than 60 men and women, who worked for several hours to pound pegs, unfurl the canvas, and push more than 100 supporting steel poles to raise the roof which will house the spectacular production.

As a result: The Big Top can accommodate more than 2.400 people, and it covers space for entrance, hospitality and rehearsal tents. It stands about 56 feet (20 metres) high and is 164 feet (51 metres) in diameter, and is supported by 4 steel masts that each stand at 82 feet (25 metres) high. Also, it is well air-conditioned for a humid weather like ours.

The KURIOS - Cabinet of Curiosities travels city to city with more than 60 containers carrying the entire village - their last recent stop was in Fuji, Japan.

KURIOS opens on 5 July under the white-and-grey big top on Bayfront Avenue, beside Marina Bay Sands for a limited season. Tickets to the public are available online at www.sistic.com.sg at cirquedusoleil.com/kurios, or over the phone at +65 6348 5555.
