Crystal Fung wants to try a deaf character
25 May – After playing various characters in eight TVB dramas in four years, Crystal Fung recently revealed that she dreamed of portraying a deaf person.
In an interview with Mingpao recently, the actress revealed that she has played all kinds of characters - talkative person, strong woman, quiet girl - but has yet to be given the chance to play a gentle role or a character with a disability.
"I want to try acting using the sign language. Acting is not just about uttering lines. I want to challenge myself in this aspect and give the audience a sense of freshness. I have the confidence to do it," she said.
Crystal stated that she often heard from others that she rarely spoke, which would make playing someone with a hearing impairment a good choice.
"In fact, I don't talk a lot when I am not at work. I am relatively quiet. I use a lot of energy during work, and people who know me admit that they were surprised to see how much I talk when I am hosting shows because I rarely speak at home," she said.
Crystal revealed her idol in the business to be veteran actress Liza Wang.
"She works very hard for more than 50 years. I admire her so much. She is one in a million. I wouldn't dare to try to be her, just to learn from her," she added.
