This Country Was Just Named the No. 1 Post-breakup Destination in the World — and It Has Some of the World's Best Beaches
Greece came out on top.
Heartbreak is never easy, it's never fun, and it's never anything we'd wish upon anyone. And if it's happening to you, know that we're sorry and that most of us have been there and know exactly how you're feeling. That's why we can say with confidence that taking a trip is exactly what you need right now. Getting out of your day-to-day routine in an all-new place can give you a fresh perspective and a positive life experience all your own. And Miss Tourist knows exactly where you should go.
The travel website unveiled its list of the best places to travel after heartbreak and it named Greece the best country to visit post-breakup.
To find the top spots, the team made a seed list of destinations and then used data from Tripadvisor, World Population Review, Worldometers, and World Travel Index to evaluate each spot. It evaluated each spot based on its wellness amenities, available classes and workshops, access to nature, cultural tours, shopping, restaurants, nightlife, and its affordability, friendliness, and safety, (It added that to ensure a fair comparison, it standardized metrics per square kilometer and per capita.)
According to the team, Greece "excels in wellness amenities (9.3 per 100,000 residents), classes and workshops (1.3 per 100,000 residents), and retail shops (27.5 per square km)." It doesn't hurt that Greece also has some of the most stunning beaches on the planet.
Portugal came in a close second thanks to its bountiful wellness amenities, access to nature, and its high number of cultural tours. It was joined at the top of the list by Singapore in third, followed by Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Japan, and Australia, rounding out the top 10.
"Traveling after a breakup can be one of the most therapeutic ways to find solace and regain a sense of self. These findings underscore the vast opportunities the world offers for healing and new beginnings," Yulia Saf, the CEO and founder of Miss Tourist, shared in a statement provided to Travel + Leisure. "The world is full of experiences waiting to rejuvenate the heart and mind, from the culinary delights of Italy to the tranquil natural scenery of Switzerland. Let these destinations inspire you to take that first step towards healing and self-discovery."
