Apparently it's not just humans who love playing badminton, as a hilarious video of three cats in India playing badminton with their owner went viral online.

The video, shared by @lian.shorts on Instagram, shows a man with a badminton racquet, and his three cats – Chopper, Nemo, and Ono – as opponents. The cats are in a triangle formation with one of the cats perched on top of a dustbin, while the other two on the floor, ready to pounce. The guy hits the shuttlecock, and the cats jump into action, swatting it back with their paws. It's like a purr-fectly orchestrated game of cat-minton!
Badminton is a sport that originated in the 19th century British India as a variant of another game, battledore and shuttlecock.
Video garnering more than 5 million views
The video has already racked up over 5.1 million views since it was uploaded on 25 March, and still gaining momentum.
Netizens are loving how athletic the cats are, and the comments are gold.
One netizen said, “It’s awesome lol so cute” while another joked that “[these] cats can play better than any of my friends”!
And some folks are calling out the guy in the video, saying he's cheating because he's the only one with a racquet. “You are cheating, you didn’t give them a racquet!”
But the best part is the ending. One of the cats hits the shuttlecock and accidentally landed onto the pedal of the dustbin where another cat is sitting, launching it straight into another trash can!
Talk about a slam dunk, or should we say, a trash can dunk?
The Instagram page is a goldmine of cat antics featuring the felines doing all sorts of activities such as riding motorcycles, playing billiards, and even chowing down on corn.
