Converse Unveils ‘Proud to Be’ Pride 2024 Collection With Western-Style Details

Ahead of Pride Month in June, Converse has dropped its tenth anniversary Pride collection featuring festive colorways of its classic Chuck Taylor All Star low top and high top shoes, along with its younger cousin, the Chuck 70, the chunky Run Star Utility Sandal and two shirts.
The “Proud To Be” collection was designed by Converse’s LGBTQIA+ employees and allies and features trendy Western details, nods to the blue-and-pink transgender flag, and joyful pops of color.

The brand-new trendy platform Run Star Utility Sandal CX Pride features pink and blue stripes on the platform “is dedicated to the radiant trans voices creating spaces for themselves.” The sandal’s comfortable Velcro straps boast a prismatic rainbow across them.

The Chuck Taylor All Star Lift Platform Pride high top shoe come in black canvas with playful western-inspired embroidery and hardware detailing, along with a comfortable lifted sole and vibrant rainbow outsole.
The Chuck 70 Pride hi-top comes in metallic silver canvas with playful harness detailing. It retails for $100. The Chuck 70 Pride low-top comes in black with western-inspired flame embroidery and goes for $95. Both designs paint Chuck’s iconic rubber outsole with in a dreamy rainbow gradient.
The Chuck Taylor All Star Pride hi top is a white canvas shoe with subtle neon rainbow detailing, including the tongue, an embroidered lightning bolt and the outsole. It comes in both adult and “little kid” sizing, the former retailing for $80 and the latter for $45.
You can also be the designer, as the Pride Chuck Taylor All Star high, low and platform silhouettes are customizable as part of the “Converse By You” program. The “Pride By You” offers a plethora of rainbow graphics, accents, laces and other unique details to choose from, including Chuck patches inspired by different Pride flags and the option to include gender pronouns on the outsole.
The Converse Proud To Be campaign was shot by queer photographer Cully Wright, whose work focused on representing the expansiveness of his community and of humanity and joy.
“When we create a safe space to fully express who we are, we allow others to do the same,” Wright said in the press release. “As I keep growing, I want to inspire people and evoke emotions. I want to tell stories and give people the space to feel. I think the more diversity showcased in art, entertainment, and media, the more opportunities for acceptance.”
Since 2015, Converse has donated nearly $3 million to local, national, and international organizations supporting to queer community. This year, Converse’s annual grants will go to its long-term partner, It Gets Better Project, along with New York’s Ali Forney Center, Boston’s BAGLY and The Theater Offensive.
The Converse Proud To Be Collection is unisex and currently available for purchase on its website and at select Converse retail stores, including the New York Soho and Boston Lovejoy stores.
