If John Wick would ever expand beyond the POV its leading star, Keanu Reeves, it was always clear that The Continental would be the jumping-off point. A hotel where all the world's top assassins can stay the night without fear of being checked off a hit list? It's a wonderful concept. You could just smell the spinoff potential when John Wick: Chapter 4 introduced the Japanese hotel run by Hiroyuki Sanada and Rina Sawayama. If there's a John Wick world without John Wick, The Continental is where it would have to go down.

So, when the Peacock television series was announced, it just made sense. John Wick might even be such a big success for Lionsgate that they'll have to figure out how to bring him back from the dead just to make another film. "The one common emotion of all the John Wick movies, when we’re shooting them, and with the John Wick TV show, is that we never talk about sequels," executive producer Basil Iwanyk told Collider. "We don’t wanna tempt the movie and television Gods and have them say, ‘Oh, you’re getting cocky and talking about a sequel? Well, f--- you!’ I don’t wanna anger them. I wanna be humble in front of them."

Still, the Mel Gibson-led Continental spinoff is one this year's most highly anticipated new series. So much so, that it's three-episode pitch may prove to be just an appetizer. "There’s definitely more story to tell," executive producer Erica Lee teased. "Those conversations are just starting now," and once we see the end of the SAG-AFTRA and WAG strikes, the team is "hopeful for a second season." Who knows! Keanu Reeves may even return for John Wick 5.
