Nottingham Confused By Random Appearance In Hollywood Horror Movie

Nottingham is finding itself thoroughly baffled over an appearance of its market square in the trailer for new horror-comedy ‘Krampus’.

Though the city has precisely nothing to do with the movie, for some reason it appears in the opening shot of the trailer (check it out above).

A frame of the Christmas market was spotted by the eagle-eyed son of a council employee, and now answers are being sought.

A spokesperson for Nottingham City Council told the BBC: “We do give permission for people to film in the city all the time but they don’t always need permission, so if this footage already exists somewhere we wouldn’t necessarily know about it.

“It is surprising to see Nottingham in a Hollywood trailer and we are pleased it has been used to depict a Christmas scene.

“Out of all the footage they could have picked, they chose Nottingham to show a typically Christmassy scene.”

Taking to Facebook, some residents have even called for royalties to be paid to the city.

So far, Legendary Pictures, which has produced the movie, has not commented on the matter.

However, there is a link between the company and Nottingham.

It produced Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies, which used the spectacular Wollaton Hall, just outside the city centre, as Wayne Manor.

'Krampus’ is set for release on December 4, and tells the story of an evil Christmas spirit.

Based in German folklore, Krampus is the anti-thesis of Saint Nicholas, who punishes children who have been bad, rather than rewarding them for being good.

The movie stars Adam Scott, Toni Collette, David Koechner and Allison Tolman.
