I skipped the classic pasta choices like Al Funghi (S$10.90) and Beef Bolognese (S$9.90) and dived straight into the fusion selections: Seafood Tom Yum (S$14.20) and Otah Aglio (S$13.80).

The fusilli pasta of the Seafood Tom Yum were tossed in a light-yellow creamy tom yum sauce and crowned with prawns, white clams and squid.

My colleague, Dean, and I were delighted at how flavourful and appetite-inducing the sauce was. With the first bite, a sourish kick awakened our taste buds, perfectly balancing the creamy richness. The clams and prawns were fresh and the squid was tender and not rubbery— a truly well-executed dish, I must say!

With a generous amount of otah pieces and crispy fried baby shrimps tossed with the spaghetti, the Otah Aglio had an immense umami-ness which reminded me of hae bi hiam, and its smoky flavour intrigued me.

Arriving sizzling hot at our table was the Kimchi Steak Fried Rice (S$28++). Sliced sirloin steak, sous vide egg, kimchi, sesame seeds and shreds of nori topped the orange-hued grains.

After prodding the egg to release its luscious golden river of richness, I combined everything together in one large mouthful. The tender beef harmonised really well with the pearl-grained rice, creamy egg and tangy kimchi— a definite struggle to stop at just one spoonful.

The Seared Scallop & Prawn Pasta (S$30++) wasn’t your run-off-the-mill seafood pasta. The pasta was tossed in a rich prawn bisque sauce, injecting a robust oceanic essence to the dish.

The linguine was al dente and cooked to perfection. It’s easy to overcook scallops, so I was pleased when my scallops were still plump and juicy— all thanks to the chef’s impeccable cooking skills.

A great end to our meal, The Marmalade Carrot Cake ($15++ per slice) was moist and lightly spiced with hints of nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. It was filled with walnut bits and topped with a luxurious and decadent cream cheese filling— so good!

We gave the Sweet Soy Pork Ribs (S$34) a go. The slab of ribs came with sweet potato fries, purple cabbage slaw and a side of chilli relish.

My knife cut through the rib meat easily like melted butter, and had a sweet and savoury caramel-like coating. To top it all off, the meat was soft and nicely marinated.

The chilli relish by the side had an aromatic garlicky spiciness which reminded me of an ayam penyet sambal, fusing Asian and Western flavours together.

The Spicy Crabmeat Capellini (S$28) had bits of crab meat, roasted capsicum and chilli flakes.

The silk-like strands of pasta were mildly spiced and because of the roasted peppers, its flavour had a lingering smokiness. The crabmeat was also fresh and naturally sweet.
