Comic artist Tony Wong denies mistreating son with autism

20 Aug – Famed manhua comics artist Tony Wong has recently released a statement in response to allegations made by his ex-girlfriend Annie Ngai - mother to his autistic son Royce.

As reported on Mingpao, Annie, a former actress, recently took to social media to accuse Tony of mistreatment of their 18-year-old son and failure to be a good provider. The story was later picked up by weekly tabloid magazines.

In response to her allegations, Tony recently applied for an injunction to stop Annie from further damaging his reputation.

In his statement, Tony, known for his works like "Oriental Heroes" and "Weapons of the Gods", stated that he has been taking care of his son since May 2015, and that the whole Wong family have been doing their best to care for Royce, who has a severe autism - enrolling him in the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong Cornwall School since June 2015.

He also stated that despite the fact that he and Annie are no longer together, he has never failed to pay a reasonable living expenses for his son when the latter was living with Annie in Singapore.

Tony also accused Annie of misleading the public when it was actually the former actress who would often punish Royce for no apparent reason.

On the other hand, the comic artist also revealed that he has applied for an emergency guardianship order for his son.

Annie and Tony started dating back in 1998 before ending their relationship in 2004. The actress gave birth to Royce in January 2000, and had been taking care of their son in Singapore since their split.

They returned to Hong Kong in March 2015, with Tony taking turns in caring for Royce since May the same year.
