[UPDATE FRIDAY 25 NOV 2016 3:45PM: Live Nation Lushington announced at 3:15pm that all 100,000 tickets to Coldplay’s two-day concert in Singapore are sold out]

All 100,000 tickets to Coldplay’s two-day concert in Singapore next year are officially sold out, according to Live Nation Lushington’s announcement on social media.

“Live Nation Lushington launched ticket sales for the second-announced, Friday 31 March show at 10:00am today and also released additional standing inventory plus restricted views seats for the Saturday 1 April show. There were over 1,500 people queuing at the National Stadium main box office, with many having waited since yesterday morning to have an opportunity to get the best seats,” they said.

Concertgoers with the RV tickets will be situated on the left and right side of the main stage, as well as behind the sound and light mix tents, and the sound and spotlight delay towers.

There will be some impaired views due to the towers, whereas seats situated on the sides will not be able to view the main stage’s rear central screen,” they said.

As a consolation, two side screens will be placed on both sides of the stage, and the band will also be performing out on the catwalk thrust and the B & C stages, said the promoter.

Contrary to the response for earlier sales, which saw tickets being sold-out within two hours consecutively, ticket sales on Friday were still ongoing even three hours after it was opened for purchase.

The frenzy for the hottest concert tickets in town began on Thursday (17 Nov) when all 12,000 pre-sale tickets, which were allocated for Citibank credit-card holders, were snapped up in under an hour after they were released for purchase online.

Similarly, all tickets allocated for Live Nation Lushington’s mailing list subscribers on Sunday were quickly sold out.

The demand has led to tickets being offered on e-commerce sites like Carousell at inflated prices, with some going for more than $1,000.

Live Nation Lushington has warned Coldplay fans not to buy tickets from resellers.

“We will also continue to curtail the secondary tickets being sold at inflated prices. We have since voided a number of tickets found on the resale market as this contravenes our terms and conditions of sale.

“We would like to urge all fans to refrain from purchasing tickets through unauthorised resellers as these may have already been voided and holders will be denied access to venue.”

A petition calling for a second concert by Coldplay in Singapore was set up by a fan shortly after Live Nation Lushington announced the tickets for the general public were sold out.

On 14 Nov, Coldplay fans were treated to a teaser video posted on social media to promote the band’s “A Head Full of Dreams” tour, which listed a number of concert stops around the world including Singapore.

Managing director of Live Nation Lushington, Michael Roche, described the ticket demand for Coldplay’s concert as “unprecedented”, saying that the only other time that a similar demand was seen in Singapore was during Michael Jackson’s “Dangerous Tour” in 1993, according to a report on Friday by the Straits Times. Jackson thrilled close to 100,000 fans over two days of his sold-out concerts at the old National Stadium.
