CoCo Lee's ashes laid to rest in Wuhan
23 Oct - CoCo Lee has been laid to rest in her mother's ancestral hometown in Wuhan, particularly at the Shimen Peak Memorial Park.
The news was announced by sister Nancy Lee, who shared that CoCo had always been a "Wuhan girl" during her lifetime, which is why the family had arranged for her to have her final resting place at the said memorial park.
CoCo's mother and two sisters went to the park on 21 October, where a statue of an angel greeted them on top of a colourful stairs, and the words "In Loving Memory of CoCo Lee" written on the wall next to the statue.
The epitaph "The sun warms us, the moonlight loves us" is also engraved on her tombstone.
While the funeral was private, the venue was opened for fans to say goodbye to their beloved singer from a distance.
Speaking to the media afterwards, Nancy stated that the decision to bury her sister's ashes at the memorial park was in compliance to her mother's wish, which is to have father and daughter at the same place, so that CoCo, who had never seen her father since she was a child, could finally meet him in the afterlife.
She also added that the family hopes to hold memorial events every year with fans, as well as to set up a charity fund in CoCo's name.
