Claudia Barretto wants to focus on music
24 May - Almost everybody from Claudia Barretto's family is an actor - from her grandfather Dencio Padilla, her aunt Claudine and Gretchen Barretto, mum Marjorie, to sister Julia.
However, instead of diving into what is assumed to be an industry that seemed to be destined for her, Claudia Barretto is sticking to her first love - music.
As reported on ABS-CBN, the singer, who recently released her debut single, "Stay", shared that she felt good doing something different from the rest of the family.
"It is something that will set me apart. At the same time, I have never tried acting and I am more into singing. It's much easier for me to be a singer than an actress," she said.
She is also happy that the fans are liking her new single.
When asked if the family is supportive of her decision to become a singer, Barretto said that they would always encourage her to be more confident, especially her mum Marjorie.
"My mum loves it. She knows that it's always been a dream of mine to be a singer. She has always been very supportive," she said.
As to whether she would one day become an actress herself, the singer said that she will focus on her music for now.
"I really want to do better in that first. Then we'll see. But right now just music," she added.
