Christopher Nolan’s Next Film Confirmed For 2017

‘The Dark Knight’ maestro Christopher Nolan has just signed up to direct a mysterious movie in 2017… and that’s about all we know.

Warner Bros. has announced that Nolan’s next film will be released on 21 July 2017. But while the date is already locked in place, further details remain a complete mystery.

“The studio just announced that it is setting a July 21, 2017, release date for Christopher Nolan’s next, as yet unidentified movie,” reports Deadline. “The studio has world rights, as it has had with all of Nolan’s recent pictures except for Interstellar, which it shared with Paramount.”

Christopher Nolan is famous for his critically-lauded Batman trilogy, which kicked off with ‘Batman Begins’, followed up by the mesmerising ‘The Dark Knight’ and ending with ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.

And when it comes to his own movie, he’s certainly made a splash with the likes of 2014’s ‘Interstellar’ and my personal favourite – the mind-bending ‘Inception’.

But what could this new movie be about?

There have been rumours that Christopher Nolan was circling a new project for the last few months… and one of those was that he’d been approached to direct ‘Ready Player One’. Of course, that job eventually went to Steven Spielberg, and so the subject of Nolan’s next film remains a bit of a mystery.

Although some fans will likely be keen to connect the dots between Christopher Nolan and WB’s ever-expanding superhero universe, the director has explained numerous times that he isn’t exactly keen to return to comic book movies.

“I love those guys and my brother was involved in Man of Steel with Zack [Snyder] and David [Goyer]. I kind of feel like that chapter for us is closed,” he told Coming Soon back last year. “To be continued somewhere farther down the line? Maybe.”

Could that time have come around? For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but I get the feeling it’s more likely that we’ll see another Christopher Nolan original.
