5 May – Despite its lukewarm reviews, the Chris Hemsworth-led "Extraction" is fast becoming Netflix's most watched feature film.

The actor shared on his Twitter that the movie "is well on its way to becoming the biggest-ever film premiere on Netflix - with a projected 90 million households getting in on the action in the first 4 weeks" and thanked everyone who has watched it.

It's no surprise then that Netflix is already working on a second instalment.

There's no word from Hemsworth yet but Joe Russo told Deadline, "The deal is closed for me to write "Extraction 2", and we are in the formative stages of what the story can be.

"We're not committing yet to whether that story goes forward, or backward in time. We left a big loose ending that leaves question marks for the audience."

Russo wrote the first movie while he and his brother, Anthony, were still working on "Avengers: Infinity War". Produced along with Hemsworth under the Russos' AGBO banner, Marvel stunt coordinator Sam Hargrave helmed "Extraction" with Hemsworth starring as black-market mercenary Tyler Rake.

No deals will be made with Hargrave and Hemsworth until Russo is done with the sequel's script, but both are expected to return for the second movie.

"Extraction" follows Rake, a former Australian Special Air Service Regiment soldier who is recruited by a fellow mercenary to rescue Ovi Mahajan Jr., the kidnapped 14-year-old son of the biggest drug lord in India.
