Chiung Yao on new book controversy: Read it first!

27 Jul - Taiwanese writer-producer Chiung Yao is keeping mum about her new book and the controversy surrounding it until it is released to the public.

As reported on Tencent, the "My Fair Princess" producer sparked the anger of her husband Ping Xintao's children and grandchildren recently, after it was revealed that she had written a book about the renowned publishing mogul despite previously saying that she won't do that.

Chiung and Ping's family from his first marriage previously made headlines after disputing about putting him on life support, after months of him suffering from vascular dementia.

Back in April, the producer admitted that she has surrendered, albeit unwillingly, to Ping's children who wanted to intubate him despite her promise to let him die with dignity.

The book, "Before the Snowfalls: The Last Lesson of My Life" (translated title), is said to be Chiung's take on the meaning of life and death and the lesson on letting go.

When asked about the anger among Ping's children sparked by the new book, Chiung only responded, "Read the book first before we can discuss."

As for allegations made by Ping's grandson that she hasn't visited him in the two and a half months since they took the responsibility of caring for him, Chiung said that she did go see him on 13 July, and was saddened by how miserable he looked.

On the other hand, it was reported that Chiung's new publisher has decided to stop the pre-order of the new book, although the book will be on sale in stores on 1 August as scheduled.
