Chris D’Elia is accused of having sex with and soliciting more than 100 nude photos from a 17-year-old girl, according to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles on Tuesday. “Chris denies these allegations and will vigorously defend against them in court,” a spokesperson for D’Elia told TheWrap. According to the suit, the unnamed 17-year-old girl first messaged D’Elia on Instagram and sent him a photo of herself hugging a teddy bear as a “joke,” not expecting the comedian to respond. But D’Elia responded “right away,” the suit said, and asked if she would come to one of his upcoming comedy shows. The following day, D’Elia sent his Snapchat account information to the girl, who added him on the photo-sharing social media platform. From there, according to the suit, D’Elia began asking the girl to send him nude photos. Though she initially tried to ignore his requests, she eventually sent him a number of sexually explicit photos because he “would not talk about anything else until she complied with his demands,” the lawsuit said. When she arrived, D’Elia told her to go to his hotel room, where he then had sex with her (The age of consent in Connecticut is 16). When they were having sex, the girl told D’Elia that she was 17 and still in high school, which the comedian said was “hot,” according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit then accused D’Elia of emotionally manipulating the girl into sending him sexually explicit photos and videos by unfollowing her on social media or threatening to stop all communication if she did not comply. The girl ended all communication with D’Elia in 2019, after she saw him portray a comedian who preys on underage girls in the second season of Netflix’s “You,” and felt “deeply disturbed” by what D’Elia had done to her, according to the lawsuit. Dolly Parton just got her COVID vaccine and in a fun full circle moment, it’s also a dose of her own medicine — literally, as the country music icon helped fund the research for the Moderna vaccine with a $1 million donation last year. Dolly’s shot was administrated at Vanderbilt Health by her friend Dr. Abumrad, and during the process she taped an encouraging PSA she clearly hopes will appeal to people who might be wary of getting their own shots. “I’m old enough to get it and I’m smart enough to get it,” Parton said. Of course, the highlight of the clip was when Dolly pitched vaccination to her fans by singing her classic song “Jolene” with the word for “vaccine” substituted in for a fun, and societally good pun. It’s as adorable as it is awesome and you can see for yourself below. Dolly gets a dose of her own medicine. @VUMChealth pic.twitter.com/38kJrDzLqC — Dolly Parton (@DollyParton) March 2, 2021 Because Dolly is, well, Dolly, everyone immediately fell in love with the video. “Dolly Parton, you are the greatest!!” wrote Erin Brokovich, tweeting the lyrics Parton made up: “vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, I’m begging of you please don’t hesitate…cause once you dead, then that’s a bit too late.” “Dolly Parton sings about vaccines to the tune of ‘Jolene’ in this video, which might actually be the best Jolene cover,” declared Bloomberg White House Correspondant Justin Sink. And others were just rightfully in love with the whole thing, which we can understand. As we enter a year of COVID life, we definitely needed some serotonin in our lives and thankfully. Dolly came to the rescue. “From watching the Allen v Farrow documentary, it has me wondering what the appropriate age difference is in an adult romantic relationship,” joked Michigan attorney general Dana Nessel. “The answer is…whatever the difference between my age and however old Dolly Parton is.” “Here’s Dolly Parton, getting a dose of the vaccine she helped fund, and looking great. This is statement dressing and I assume the whole site was singing I Will Always Love You,” said writer Paul Rudnick. ABC News veteran George Stephanopoulos may be upset to relinquish the throne for breaking news to evening anchor David Muir, but even Stephanopoulos can’t deny the ratings turnaround that Muir has provided for ABC’s “World News Tonight.” Muir became “World News Tonight” anchor on Sept. 1, 2014. The season prior, when Diane Sawyer was still in the chair, the show trailed Brian Williams’ “NBC Nightly News” by 1.2 million total viewers per evening, according to Nielsen. Fast-forward to this current season, and Muir is presently leading Lester Holt’s “NBC Nightly News” by 1.6 million viewers per night. That’s not just a lead change, it is a swing of 2.8 million total viewers. No wonder ABC News just tapped the 47-year-old Muir to head up its breaking news duties, effectively replacing 60-year-old Stephanopoulos in the role. (It helps that he has consistently ranked as the most-liked TV media personality, according to Q Scores.) Tension between ABC News morning anchor George Stephanopoulos and evening star David Muir over the anchor title led to the sudden exit of ABC News chief James Goldston in January, TheWrap has learned. Goldston announced his exit suddenly on Jan. 28 after 17 years at the network, giving no reason for the departure and telling his staff, “After a great deal of reflection over the last few months, I’m ready for a new adventure.” According to three people with knowledge of the situation, Walt Disney Chairman of General Entertainment Content Peter Rice blamed Goldston for mismanaging the brewing conflict between the network’s top news talent, who each wanted to be the go-to person on air when news broke. Specifically, Rice faulted Goldston for not telling Stephanopoulos that Muir would be leading special events and breaking news after President Joe Biden’s January inauguration. As former president Donald Trump’s second impeachment began to ramp up and Muir prepared to lead coverage, Stephanopoulos felt blindsided and threatened to quit. Many of the six Dr. Seuss titles that are being discontinued landed on Amazon’s best-seller list on Tuesday afternoon. Dr. Seuss Enterprises, the company in charge of preserving the beloved children’s author’s legacy, on Tuesday announced that six Seuss books will be permanently discontinued due to material deemed racist or insensitive. The six books — “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street,” “If I Ran the Zoo,” “McElligot’s Pool,” “On Beyond Zebra!” “Scrambled Eggs Super!” and “The Cat’s Quizzer” — will no longer be republished or licensed for further use. “These books portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong,” the company said in a statement issued on what would have been the author’s 117th birthday as well as as National Read Across America Day. Also Read: 6 Dr. Seuss Books Pulled From Publication for 'Hurtful' Depictions All but “The Cat’s Quizzer” were among the top 50 selling books on Amazon on Tuesday. “If I Ran the Zoo” is currently at No. 6. The top two books were both Dr. Seuss titles. The top seller is a collection that features “Cat in the Hat,” “One Fish Two Fish,” “Green Eggs and Ham,” “Hop on Pop” and “Fox in Socks.” “Oh the Places You’ll Go” landed in the No. 2 spot. According to Dr. Seuss. Enterprises, the decision to discontinue these titles was made a year ago, after the company began “working with a panel of experts, including educators” to reassess the entire catalog of work by Seuss (né Theodore Geisel). Criticisms of some of his work have mounted over the years, specifically taking issue with the ways Black and Asian characters were illustrated in the children’s books. NewsNation relaunched on Monday, not that you would know it from these TV ratings. According to Nielsen, NewsNation’s first primetime back on the cable airwaves drew just 37,000 total viewers, on average, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. In the key news demo, adults 25-54, the average across those three hours was only 8,000. It gets worse: Ashleigh Banfield’s new program settled for a mere 17,000 total viewers at 10 p.m., according to Nielsen. Just 5,000 viewers aged 25-54 tuned in to that hour. Also Read: Ashleigh Banfield Says NewsNation Show Will Offset Cable News 'Echo Chambers' (Exclusive) The NewsNation channel was previously known as WGN America, prior to the rebranding announced in January. WGNA was not always wall-to-wall news, airing just a two-hour primetime newscast under the “NewsNation” banner. (The primetime segment has since been renamed “NewsNation Prime.”) Upon its relaunch and the addition of Banfield’s show, the channel also added “NewsNation Early Edition,” hosted by Nichole Berlie at 6 p.m. ET, and “The Donlon Report,” hosted by Joe Donlon at 7 p.m. ET. In primetime, Monday’s NewsNation effort was down 18% in viewers versus the same day last week, and down 27% in the key demo. Banfield’s program dropped 38% overall and halved the 10 o’clock hour’s demo audience from the previous Monday. Also Read: WGN America to Rebrand as NewsNation With 5 Hours of Daily News Programming Billed as a competitor to cable news leaders CNN and Fox News, NewsNation has distinguished itself as having only live national newscast in primetime, with the network pointing to other cable networks’ decision to air opinion shows in the evening. In an interview with TheWrap ahead of the launch, Banfield said her program and NewsNation as a whole has “the health of the viewer” in mind more than its competitors do. “Because everyone has retreated into echo chambers, they’ve left a void behind and that void happens to include tens of millions of Americans who are independent-minded and who are starving for an unbiased news product, so this is also a business decision. The business decision is to serve those people who would like to see journalism returned to the way it used to be,” she said, adding, “I believe the ratings will come because people are starving for this kind of product.” Read original story Ashleigh Banfield’s NewsNation Debut Draws Just 17,000 Viewers At TheWrap
