Obtaining those crisp new notes for Chinese New Year has become much more convenient since banks began offering customers the option of reserving them online.

Maybank Singapore, DBS/POSB and UOB all offer this option, with Maybank having started accepting reservations on 16 January. DBS/POSB will begin accepting reservations on Monday (29 Jan) and UOB on Tuesday (30 Jan).

Information on when the notes will be available for pick up can be found in the table below.

While the most popular denomination drawn at DBS/POSB is $2, a HSBC spokesman told Yahoo Lifestyle Singapore that over the years, demand for this denomination has dipped in favour of $10 and $50 notes.

A DBS spokesman said that the bank’s pop-up ATMs will be available this year, making it the fourth year the bank has tied up with the People’s Association to roll them out. There will be 36 pop-up ATMs across 27 community clubs island-wide, up from 22 community clubs last year.

More than 110,000 customers made use of the machines last year, with the majority doing so outside banking hours or over the weekends. The pop-up ATMs will be in place from 29 Jan.

All five banks are also offering good-as-new notes.
