Cheska Kramer talks about brother Patrick Garcia's upcoming wedding
Cheska Garcia is happy for her brother, Patrick Garcia who is tying the knot with fiancée Nikka Martinez in March.
“He is following in our footsteps,” notes the happily-married Cheska at the Uratex My Home event, where she and her family – popularly known as Team Kramer – were introduced as brand ambassadors.
Cheska shared that Patrick told Nikka when he proposed that he wants to make things right with the Lord and with her.
“He is putting God in the center of his relationship (with Nikka). I join him in Bible studies and he does the same. He's on the right track.”
Cheska advised Patrick to put God in the center of his relationship with Nikka the way she and her husband Doug do.
Family affair
Patrick’s wedding is a strictly family affair. Cheska is the matron of honor; Doug is the best man; their daughters Kendra and Scarlett will act as flower girls and their only son Gavin is the ring bearer.
Perhaps Patrick can take more cues from his Ate Cheska by just observing Team Kramer at home and elsewhere. The children are active, uncontrollable at times. At the Uratex event, Doug had to restrain one of them from wandering away from him on stage. But he doesn’t mind.
“Kahit makukulit sila, that’s their way of getting your attention. They’re only children once. Enjoy natin ang mga anak natin habang bata pa sila.”
Big bed
There’s nothing Doug loves more than arriving dead tired from daily basketball practice and hopping on the big bed he shares with the entire family.
He and Cheska lull the kids to sleep with a bedtime story or two, and discuss family matters once the little ones are off to Dreamland.
Cheska is so happy being a housewife she doesn’t miss showbiz at all.
Much busier
“Mahirap mag-alaga ng makukulit na bata pero rewarding. Your kids are learning from you. I’d rather have them active like this kesa naman may sakit sila.”
Surprise, surprise! Cheska is even busier now that she’s married than when she was still single. She brings the kids to school and fetches them, helps them with assignments, reads to them, gives them a bath, etc.
Family holidays depend on Doug, the breadwinner’s’ free time.
Doug and Cheska agreed on who will wear the pants at home even before they got married six years ago.
Glamorous housewife
“We’ve accepted this, even before, when we were still boyfriend-girlfriend. When we got married I told my husband I wanna focus on raising a family.”
Cheska is a housewife, but certainly not the frumpy kind. She has preserved her good looks and the glamor she exuded on TV.
“Iba na ang housewives ngayon. I want to be a role model sa kanila. I also have my shoots and speaking engagements with my husband. We share our testimony on raising kids and marriage in church. I have a lot of things lined up for 2015.”
Advice to wives
Her advice to wives?
“Enjoy their relationship with their husband. Put God in center of your relationship and everything else will follow.”
Like all normal couples, she and Doug tangle. But the fights don’t last because they genuinely love each other. And they settle differences before going to sleep.
Cheska never expected hers and Doug’s rewards: endorsements as a family, popularity in social media, etc. Cheska doesn’t look at her children as the celebrity kids that they are. They’re just her kids she is 100 per cent devoted to.
Grateful
Cheska doesn’t worry about tomorrow because she’s too busy thanking “the Lord for whatever He has for me.”
He sure gave her a lot: a loving husband, perky, healthy kids and a happy home.
At the end of the day, that’s what matters most.
As Cheska says, “Iba pa rin when the famiy is complete.”
