Che Puan Sarimah Ibrahim reveals sexual harassment faced in early years
21 Sep – Che Puan Sarimah Ibrahim recently admitted that she was not immune to sexual harassment when she first started in the entertainment industry.
The TV personality shared her experience during a media conference held for Astro Original Series, "Riot" earlier this week, saying that she was once harassed while working on the set of a show.
"The person approached me with the excuse of repairing the microphone, but then he touched my chest. I had to force a smile as if I was not affected at all. He even praised my looks and said that we would look great together but that he is married," she said.
The same man even invited her on a holiday together, but she declined.
"He said that I wouldn't be able to work on the next season if I won't go, so I said, it's okay. I will pay for my own holiday," said Sarimah.
The mother of one also shared another instance that happened with a different man, saying that she was told to dress sexily for a director.
"He asked me to wear this one sexy dress and even prepared it for me in this one room. I asked why do I have to show it to him alone in that room. That was bizarre. I said no and didn't get the offer. But luckily, I got other jobs after that," she added.
Sarimah stated that she didn't mind losing jobs as long as she didn't lose her dignity.
