Charmaine Sheh enjoys playing the villainess
21 Aug – Charmaine Sheh recently revealed that she enjoyed playing the villain in the new Chinese period drama, "Story of Yanxi Palace".
As reported on HK01, the actress who plays the manipulative Consort Xian in the drama, stated that she didn't think twice about accepting the offer when it came to her.
"Playing a villain enables me to show something new to the audience, but also something different for myself. I realised that playing the baddie is really fun," she said.
When asked if she is okay being hated by the viewers, Charmaine said that she would cherish the hatred.
"The more the better. More scolding means that they are more invested in the storyline. The more you hate me, the happier I am," she said.
As to why she decided to accept a supporting role in the drama after playing the lead in many TVB dramas in the past, Charmaine said that the story and character is more important to her than the position she plays.
"As long as I am having fun with it, it's fine by me," she said.
