Charlene Choi and William Chan announce breakup
21 Sep - After four years of relationship and ongoing rumours of breakup, Charlene Choi and William Chan recently announced that they have indeed called it quits, according to HK Channel News.
On 20 September, both stars posted a joint-statement in their respective social media accounts, saying, "Artistes always hope that their hard work will get recognised, but no matter how hard you try, the focus will always be on your relationship."
Charlene and William indirectly admitted that the pressure they faced from the media and public was one of the reasons for their separation, as their relationship was not given much respect and privacy like they asked for.
The two stars also expressed hope that the media and public will focus more on their work from now on.
However, some Netizens were not taken by surprise at all with the news, saying that the two stars were rarely seen together since announcing their relationship back in 2010, especially after William achieved fame in mainland China in 2014.
Charlene and William grew close again in late 2010 after working together in Wong Jing's movie, "Beauty on Duty!", though the former was still secretly married to Ronald Cheng at the time.
Rumours of an impending breakup sparked earlier this year, when William failed to show up at the Hong Kong Film Awards to support Charlene's Best Actress nomination for the film "Sara".
