Charlene Choi not disappointed by Best Actress loss

24 Apr – She may have lost her third chance to win Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards, but Charlene Choi stated that she is not disappointed at all with the result.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress, whose performance in "The Lady Improper" was bested by Hong Kong newcomer Chloe Mayaan in "Three Husbands", stated that she had seen all her competitors' performances and knew how tough her chances were.

"Chloe's character in the movie is hard to grasp, and I love Zhang Jingchu's performance in "Project Gutenberg". It must not have been an easy thing to spar with Aaron Kwok and Chow Yun Fat," she said.

Charlene also stated that she has been receiving a lot of supportive messages from fans and friends alike after the awards, including Joey Yung and Gillian Chung.

"They watched the awards on television and cheered me on. I am very grateful to have so many friends who love me. I believe the gods will give me more opportunities from now on," she said.
