Chapman To, Anthony Wong scoff at Hong Kong leader's initiatives

22 Oct – Chapman To and Anthony Wong were among the many who couldn't help but express their annoyance with Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam's new measures to ease housing crisis at her annual policy speech.

As reported on Epoch Times, Chapman, who spoke to Apple Daily following the controversial speech, claimed that the housing policy serves as Lam's way to shift from the actual issue at hand when it comes to the situation in Hong Kong.

"Every day, the police are indiscriminately killing and sexually assaulting the public, and you are actually talking about housing issues? The move is clearly aimed at splitting Hong Kong people and demonstrators. I am not interested in anything she has to say," he said.

On the other hand, Anthony, who was asked about the recent policy, expressed bluntly that he is not interested in what Lam has to say.

"But if she did say this, she really is simplifying the problem and proves that she is incompetent in political and economic affairs. Is the reason for such a complicated social problem so simple? The housing crisis is just one of the many reasons," he said.

Carrie Lam previously announced a host of measures to improve citizens' living quality, including raising the mortgage cap for first-time buyers and developing sites for more public housing.
