Chanel Is Helping Celebrate New York City’s Most Revered Dance Companies
Five of New York City’s top dance companies are coming together to take part in Lincoln Center’s second annual “Summer for the City” programming.
The BAAND Together Dance Festival is a five-day event that will feature performances and workshops from Ballet Hispánico, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, and Dance Theatre of Harlem. The festival is made possible by Chanel, supporting BAAND for the third consecutive year and continuing the fashion house’s long-standing support of the world of dance.
“The BAAND Together Dance Festival is a testament to the vibrancy and diversity of the New York City dance community,” the artistic directors of the five dance companies said in a joint statement. “We are thrilled to be returning with a spectacular program that features the city’s most internationally revered repertory companies. This year’s program highlights the innovative visions that have made New York City our nation’s dance capital.”
Ahead of the festival, Chanel worked alongside photographer Daniel Arnold to capture dancers from all five companies performing on the streets of New York. In the images, dancers are decked out in C-logo bodysuits, flowing black dresses, and cutout unitards styled by Chanel for the occasion.
From July 25 to 29 at Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park and Josie Robertson Plaza, each company will perform works representative of their individual styles and brilliance, personally curated by the troupes’ creative directors. The week will also include the world premiere of Pas de O’Farill by Pedro Ruiz, a duet featuring dancers from both Ballet Hispánico and the New York City Ballet, as well as additional performances that incorporate themes of the Afro-Cuban diaspora and American jazz.
BAAND Together Dance Festival events are free and open to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis. You can also secure free Fast Track tickets for priority entry.
