Cathay Cineplexes at Ang Mo Kio (AMK) Hub to close on 30 Jun

Cathay Cineplexes announced this in a Facebook post on 19 Jun (Wed). The company added that screenings will continue until 30 Jun, including the day itself.

Cathay Cineplexes at AMK Hub opened on 16 Jun 2007 with 8 movie halls and 1,800 seats.

After the closure of its branch at AMK Hub, Cathay will have 5 remaining outlets here. These are at Causeway Point, Downtown East, West Mall, JEM and Century Square.

The shutting of its AMK branch is the company’s fourth cinema closure in the last 2 years. Other outlets closed include the one at Parkway Parade and another at Cineleisure Orchard.

Cathay Cineplexes declined to disclose reasons for the closing of its branch at AMK Hub. The company did not say what would happen to the affected staff, according to Mothership.

AMK Hub’s asset and property manager, Link Asset Management, told The Straits Times on 20 Jun that it will be refurbishing the space on Level 4 and repositioning its mix of tenants.

From now until 30 Jun, Cathay Cineplexes at AMK Hub will be offering Standard Tickets at S$10. This marks a discount from the usual ticket price of between S$11 and S$16.50.

The branch at AMK Hub will also have a Medium Popcorn Combo for $7 instead of S$10.
