Carole Middleton opens up about family Christmas plans on Instagram

From Good Housekeeping

Carole Middleton has given us an insight into her family's Christmas plans in an Instagram post shared on Thursday (12 November).

The Duchess of Cambridge's mother revealed how she is hoping to adapt the family's festive traditions this year, including the rather sweet way she wants to keep her four grandchildren involved in the decorating of her home.

While the little ones usually help her decorate the Middleton Christmas tree every year, they have come up with a virtual solution for 2020.

In a message shared on her the feed of her party supplies business, Party Pieces, Carole said: "We may not be able to get together but, after a year like 2020, we need to remember what’s really important this Christmas.

"For me, what really matters is that my family feels connected. I normally let my grandchildren help me decorate the tree. This year, I’ll ask them by video call to decide which decoration should go where. It may need to be tastefully rearranged later…!"

Carole and Michael are grandparents to Prince George, seven, five-year-old Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, two, as well as younger daughter Pippa Middleton's son, two-year-old Arthur, so it's safe to assume the littlest royals will be taking part in the video call decorating session.

How sweet – we'd love to see how the tree turns out!

We're also loving the festive outfit Carole chose for the photo, including a long-sleeved black velvet top and sparkly grey trousers with a coordinating pair of black pumps. She has certainly got us thinking about what we'll be wearing on Christmas Day!

If you fancy emulating her look, we've spotted a chic velvet top on Boden that could be perfect for the festivities.
