Carnage features prominently in new "Venom 2" title

22 Apr – The sequel to 2018's "Venom" was originally set to hit the big screen this October but due to current circumstances, with film productions halted and cinemas temporarily closed in an effort to end the COVID-19 pandemic, it will no longer be released this year.
Aside from getting a new release date, the sequel also has a new title, according to IndieWire.
Woody Harrelson's Carnage, otherwise known as Cletus Kasady, is featured prominently in the sequel's new name, which now goes by "Venom: Let There Be Carnage".
The villainous redhead was first introduced in the post-credits scene in "Venom", when he was visited in prison by Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock. Based on photos taken on set, Carnage's look in the sequel will be a lot different from his wild-haired days in reformatory.
As for the release date, the movie was supposed to open in North American cinemas on 2 October 2020 but has now been delayed eight months to 25 June 2021. The June date was previously occupied by Matt Reeves' "The Batman", which yesterday was announced to have shifted to 1 October 2021 instead.
Andy Serkis will be helming "Venom: Let There Be Carnage", though no word yet if he'll be utilising motion capture technology in it. Hardy will be back in his starring role as the titular symbiote alien, with Michelle returning as Brock's love interest Anne Weying. Naomie Harris also joins the cast as Carnage's love interest, Shriek.
Previously, Sony has also shuffled the dates for its other major titles, including "Ghostbusters: Afterlife", Jared Leto's "Morbius" and Tom Holland's "Uncharted", which will all open in cinemas next year.
