Carmaney Wong earns praises for charity work

24 Apr – Miss Hong Kong 2019 Carmaney Wong recently won praises from her fellow Hong Kongers, as she continued playing her part for the society as the reigning beauty queen.

The 25-year-old aspiring actress shared a series of photos of her going to the streets to distribute hygiene kits to the unsung heroes - the sanitation workers - as part of her work with the Soap Cycling team's Soap to Cope campaign.

She wrote, "Some of these workers are older than my grandparents, but they still work hard in silence. I may never get the opportunity to chat with them ordinarily, but our conversations were very warm."

"Life has not been easy. The pandemic has made it tough on everybody's life. But we are also given the time to slow down and look at the people and things around us. Everybody must continue to cheer on, take advantage of this time to take care of your health and cherish the people before you," she added.

Netizens quickly took to the comments section to express their admiration for Carmaney. One netizen wrote, "You're doing such a meaningful work!", while another commented, "Everybody must work together to fight the pandemic. I will continue to support you, Carmaney!"

Earlier this month, TVB announced that it has decided to cancel the Miss Hong Kong 2020 pageant due to technical issues caused by the pandemic. Thus, Carmaney will continue to serve as the reigning Miss Hong Kong until 2021.
