9 Feb – Miss Hong Kong 2019 Carmaney Wong recently expressed her apologies over the recent video of her sister committing a "prank" by putting her cat inside a washing machine.

As reported on Mingpao, the apology came after a video went viral of a woman recording a 17-second video in which she punished her cat for defecating at home by placing it in a washing machine and then turning the appliance on - much to the horror of those who saw the clip.

She captioned the video, "Frightened little fat girl."

The video, which was uploaded online by one Yuki Wong had since been deleted, but netizens who had seen it immediately went digging to find out more about the account - and finally discovered that the woman is the elder sister of Miss Hong Kong 2019 Carmaney Wong.

Carmaney had also since received hate comments on her social media, prompting her to respond to the issue by confirming that her sister has a cat named Fat Girl and that she was very sorry for what had happened.

"I didn't know about the incident until [yesterday] morning. [My sister] is always kind to animals, but she made a mistake this time and didn't handle things well. But I believe that this kind of thing will not happen again," she said.

On the other hand, a number of netizens had filed a report to The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, though the organisation stated that it could not follow up on the case without the residential address of the said perpetrator.
