Cardi B Goes All-Out 2000s in a Bustier, Glowing White Pumps and These Disputed Skinny Jeans

Cardi B channeled the 2000s with ease this week as she bought back a few of the biggest trends from the decade.

To kick off her look, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper debuted a new hairdo that faded from platinum blonde to royal blue, all matched to a rare Hermès Birkin tote. Her ensemble itself then included a white structured bustier top matched to dark-wash skinny jeans; the choice of denim is an argued move as per Gen-Z tastes who have taken to TikTok in recent weeks to express their thoughts on the 2000s-chic silhouette along with side parts and more millennial trends.

To balance out her throwback look, Cardi B then slipped on a set of classic white pumps set atop a pointed toe and stiletto heel; the silhouette is a staple in the musician’s closet and she has previously worn similar pairs from Christian Louboutin.

Corsets and bustiers too returned to the fashion scene in the past few seasons amongst a revitalization of late 1990s and early 2000s trends. Worn in part with retro-chic pieces like cardigans and low-rise jeans, the daring silhouette comes just in time for a revamp of nostalgic designs from decades past.

Cardi B herself is no stranger to a structured top and most recently wore a nude design to promote her latest Reebok sneaker drop back in January.

The “Up” rapper also continues to hold the ultimate hook-up for sportswear since partnering with Reebok in November 2018; together, the New York native has helped the brand released a series of collections as she starred in a variety of campaigns and videos featuring embellished sneakers and vintage-inspired pieces before creating her own collection of footwear and apparel.

Deemed the Style Influencer of the Year for the 2020 FN Achievement Awards, Cardi B herself is also a master of both luxurious apparel and athleisure fashion. She joined Balenciaga as the face of its fall ’20 campaign in September, with ads displayed across the Louvre in Paris. When it comes to her everyday looks, you can find Cardi B in everything from Mugler catsuits to glittering Balmain skirts and her favorite Jessica Rich heels.

The Grammy Award-winning artist too filed paperwork last year with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in September in an attempt to trademark the term “WAP” for a variety of items from footwear to apparel to even alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
