Candice Liu admits to having no long-term plan
19 May – Although both she and Mandy Wong came from the same batch of the Miss Hong Kong pageant, Candice Chiu has yet to get her big break while the latter already played a lot of leading roles.
But according to the actress, who sat down for an interview with Mingpao recently, her slow career growth might be due to the fact that she doesn't think too much about her future.
"Everyone who knows me know that I have chosen an unstable job as an actor. I have no control over filming. I cherish every opportunity that comes my way and would never take it for granted. I've known a few people who have already planned their retirement, and here I am, never thinking about my life plan," she said.
Candice stated that she is lucky that she does not have too big of a burden when it comes to her family life, and only has to work to support herself.
"But although I do not have long-term plans, I still dream of owning my own home. I would like to buy an old house and do a major renovation. I love minimalism," she added.
At the same time, the actress, who studied in the UK since she was a child, believes that she has yet to get her breakthrough role due to her lack of proficiency in Cantonese, saying that she would do much better if she could perform in another language (English).
