A beloved California hotel is finally making its grand return.

Real estate investment firm Ascendant Capital Partners, in partnership with global hotel management firm Highgate and global investment manager Centerbridge Partners, announced the return of the Monterey Beach Hotel, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio property. The hotel, originally built in 1967, is now ready for you to check-in. And though it maintains its original name, it's undergone a stunning renovation to ensure its old-school cool charm meets the modern luxury demands of even the most discerning traveler.

As the team behind the renovation explained, the property is now the only beachfront hotel within the Monterey Peninsula and includes 600 spectacular feet of exclusive shoreline just for its guests to enjoy. Inside, guests will find 192 rooms, including four suites, all decked out in neutral, calming hues, with the majority of rooms also sporting large picture windows framing the fantastic ocean views outside.

“Monterey Beach Hotel embodies the essence of the Monterey Peninsula and is a reflection of the quintessential central California coastal experience, which we sought to honor as part of a dramatic renovation of this truly one-of-a-kind property,” Alex Halpern, the co-founder and chief investment officer of Ascendant, shared in a statement. “With its modern interiors, enhanced dining and drinking offerings, and dynamic spaces for gatherings of every kind, the hotel pays homage to a convergence of the ocean, nature, and the vibrant mosaic of the community that defines Monterey’s charm. We are excited to reintroduce this iconic property with an entirely new aesthetic and elevated experiences that reflect an incomparable sense of place along a truly special stretch of the coast.”

Throughout the hotel, guests will enjoy California coastal design thanks to the work of the Los Angeles-based team at Indidesign, who made the entire space feel effortlessly cool. That includes its mixed media artwork by area artists placed throughout the hotel, along with handcrafted ceramic pieces and massive, colorful murals meant to inspire your stay.

Those pieces can be found in the hotel's common spaces and in its three food and beverage venues, which also celebrate local talent, including Captain + Stoker coffee, Alvarado Street craft beer, and Ad Astra breads.

Guests can make their way to the hotel's heart, the Lobby Lounge, for everything from morning coffee to sunset happy hours and bites in between, thanks to a daily menu featuring locally sourced ingredients in the form of shared light bites. For a heartier meal, guests are invited to The Lantern Room, the hotel's signature restaurant that serves farm-to-table breakfast and dinner inside its nautically inspired space.

And finally, for an extra special cocktail, guests are invited to sip and savor the moment at Tidewater, a beachfront eatery that comes complete with firepits and lounge seating that's an ideal place for listening to live music, watching the sunset and letting loose with your fellow travelers.

Of course, this is a California hotel we're talking about, so naturally, there are plenty of wellness offerings to experience, including a heated outdoor pool and hot tub. Launching this fall, the hotel will also have a Scandinavian-inspired contrast therapy available with barrel saunas and ice baths, along with complimentary Zybra e-bikes for guests to use to ride along the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail.

“With this momentous opening, we are excited to start making our mark and welcoming new travelers and community members alike to Monterey Beach Hotel," Nathan Hanner, the general manager of Monterey Beach Hotel, shared. "Our hotel stands out among the rest, with a reimagined hotel experience, premium dining offerings, and best-in-class hospitality style."

Monterey Beach Hotel is now open for reservations, with rooms starting at $350 per night.
