Brittney Griner is celebrating life.

The WNBA star rung in her first birthday at home with family and friends since her release from Russian prison.

The Phoenix Mercury player turned 33 yesterday, and her wife, Cherelle Griner, made sure to honor her accordingly. On Instagran, Cherelle posted an Instagram reel including sweet clips of the two, set to Ruby Amanfu's “Happy Birthday (I Love You).”

“Happy birthday my love! God did his big one with you 👑 I couldn’t ask for a better soul to do life with! Celebrating you is easy and to love you is an honor ♥️,” Cherelle wrote. “Cheers to another year baby 🥂.”

The celebration comes after Brittney spent her 32nd birthday inside a Russian penal colony.

The basketball pro spent nine months in a Russian prison and one month in a penal colony after being detained at an airport near Moscow—during a visit to the country to play basketball—and charged with drug possession and smuggling of vape cartridges with hashish oil. She admitted to having the cartridges, but said it was an accident that she had packed them, and documents showed the cannabis oil was legally prescribed to her by her U.S. doctor for pain management,

Brittney was released from Russian custody in December, after President Joe Biden negotiated a historic prisoner swap with Russian president Vladimir Putin.

After the athlete's release, wife Cherelle wrote an emotional message on Instagram. She said, “Yesterday my heart was made whole thanks to the collective efforts of MANY! I'm humbled by their hearts. To care for another, a stranger to some, a friend to some— is humanity in its purest form!”
