Britney Spears Masters the ‘Ugly’ Sandal Trend in Skinny Jeans & a Classic Flannel for Fall

Britney Spears has always been ahead of one of this year’s biggest footwear trends: “ugly” sandals.

Considered traditionally “ugly” in the world of fashion, the singer’s sandals added her a growing list of stars — including Katie Holmes, Kendall Jenner and Chris Pine — who are trading out their chic footwear for more sport-style or orthopedic-inspired sandals from brands like Birkenstock, Teva, Prada and more.

For the “Toxic” singer, though, her love for Birkenstock sandals predates this year’s trend — she’s been wearing the brand’s Arizona silhouette for years. Just yesterday, she proved once more why she is a master of the “ugly” sandal trend in yet another design from Birkenstock matched to skinny jeans and a classic fall flannel.

Coming set atop a contrasting white outsole, the brand’s Arizona Birko-Floor sandal features a signature anatomically-shaped cork footbed with dual adjustable straps; the uppers are made from skin-friendly and durable Birko-Floor material, one the brand’s trademarked faux leather fabric. In addition to her Birkenstock sandals, Spears’ collection of relaxed footwear includes affordable styles like Steve Madden platforms as well as cherry red Adidas running shoes and Hoka One One Clifton sneakers. When the pop star does make a red carpet appearance, she typically selects pairs from top brands such as Christian Louboutin, Giuseppe Zanotti and Le Silla.

Beyond her personal style repertoire, the “Womanizer” singer collaborated with a mix of brands throughout her career, including creating a co-branded collection with Candies in 2010; she also previously appeared in the Kenzo La Collection Momento N°2 campaign in 2018.
