Boy, 12, Graduates from High School — and Plans to Attend New York University in the Fall

One New York boy is celebrating being a high school graduate — before even becoming a teenager!

Suborno Isaac Bari, 12, graduated from Malverne High School in Malverne, New York, on June 26, Good Morning America reported.

According to the outlet, the preteen skipped the 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th and 11th grades — only completing his 4th, 8th, 10th and 12th grades — while also passing the New York State Regents examinations to graduate.

Rebecca Gottesman, the director of K-12 school counseling at Malverne Union Free School District, told GMA that Bari earned a 1500 on the SAT, scored a 34 on the ACT and took five AP classes during his recent studies.

Speaking of his school career with GMA, Bari said it was "long," but also fruitful.

"It's been an absolutely wonderful experience," he told the outlet. "I met so many great people, and I've learned a lot in both math and science and other disciplines."

"But I think I'm ready to move on and pursue my higher education to the best of my ability," Bari continued.

Speaking of how he was treated by his older classmates and academic leaders, he added, "They treated me just like any other high school student … and that's how I really wanted to be treated by the community."

Bari now plans to attend New York University later this year, local outlet News 12 reported.

There, he will study for a bachelor's degree in math and physics, per GMA. He eventually hopes to earn a doctorate and become a professor.

Looking ahead at his chosen career path, Bari told the outlet that he wants to pursue it as it is his passion, and he believes everyone should follow their dreams.

"Do what you do because you like it, because of the passion you feel when describing it or doing it," he said.
