"Boba Fett" movie is on, gets "Logan" filmmaker

James Mangold is working on the stand-alone "Star Wars" movie focusing on the Bounty Hunter

Boba Fett is finally getting the screen time he deserves!

25 May - It is so on! The much rumoured of Boba Fett stand-alone "Star Wars" movie is indeed happening and will be helmed by "Logan's" James Mangold.

The story about the fan favourite character from the space opera films - a bounty hunter - will be the third spin-off from the franchise after "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" (2016) and "Solo: A Star Wars Story" which opens today.

Apart from directing, it is rumoured that Mangold will also take on script-writing duties with Simon Kinberg, the writer-producer behind the "X-Men" franchise.

Whatever it is, rest assured that the Boba Fett story will be in good hands looking at how Mangold's "Logan" earned critical acclaim and even got him an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Boba Fett was first introduced in "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" (1980) and in 1983's "Return of The Jedi", where he played a part in bringing Han Solo to the crime lord Jabba The Hutt in order to save Princess Leia.

Although the character only had limited screen time and thus a mere presence in the films, creator George Lucas had featured the character's origins in many comics, video games and books, propelling him to cult status.

No details as to the release date and plot of the film, but following this confirmation, we hope that other rumoured "Star Wars" spin-offs like the stand-alone Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda films, would be confirmed too, along with the new trilogy of films planned by "The Last Jedi's" Rian Johnson and other additional "Star Wars" films written and produced by "Game Of Thrones" helmers David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.
