Veteran Hong Kong actor Anthony Wong is not only known for his solid acting skills, but also his straightforward and occasionally controversial personality.

He's never one to be shy from expressing his opinions on various issues, such as his recent jab at Pang Ho Cheung and Chapman To, who are the director and actor respectively of Hong Kong comedy film “Vulgaria”.

Wong criticised the two’s comment that vulgarity is a core trait of Hong Kongers, stating that both celebrities should not drag others to agree with their own personal views.

He was also involved in a high-profile spat with Taiwanese idol star Show Luo which was sparked by Wong’s comment on his microblog – “Who is Show Luo?" – which led to Luo’s fans firing back at him.

Given his controversial personality, one would expect the four-time Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA) winner to have lots to say when his new film “The Four 2” was criticised by netizens – some commented that the movie is terrible and that the film’s director Gordon Chan is famous for directing lousy films.

In a phone interview with Singapore media ahead of the premiere of “The Four 2” on 9 January in Singapore, Wong said he’s not bothered by netizens’ comments.

“Actually these people can say whatever they want to say. For example, when a chef cooks a dish, it might suit some, but not others,” explained Wong.

The 51-year-old, who is known for being direct and sometimes fiery, also addressed this aspect of his personality.

Wong said, “I just feel that for some things, I want to give my opinions. Some people might like it, some might not, it doesn’t matter to me.”

The "Ip Man" actor also addressed rumours of him making a TV comeback with Hong Kong broadcaster TVB.

He said he’s currently in talks with TVB and could participate in a TVB drama.

“The Four 2” is the sequel to “The Four”, based on the best-selling novel by Woon Swee Oan.

It features Crystal Liu Yifei, Collin Chou, Ronald Cheng and Deng Chao as the four constables, each possessing an individual superpower, led by Wong’s character, Master Zhuge Zhenwo.
