Yahoo! Singapore’s guide to weekend fun (10-12 May)

Stop by a flea market that comes alive at night, or head to a concert in the middle of a public garden. This weekend is a good time to see something different.

MAAD Pyjamas
Change your weekend shopping routine and check out this flea market, which opens at 6 pm. You won’t regret it: It features an exciting array of quirky and original pieces by local art and design groups. Think furniture, gifts, fashion, illustrations, even food. While making your purchases, you can listen to “I Hate This Place”, a pop/electronic project by Sean Nerney, as well as singer Jonathan Meur. 10 May, 6 pm. Red Dot Museum. Admission is free.

Bonia Pop Up Store
Local fashion brand Bonia has been around for 39 years – so it’s only fitting that they celebrate this milestone in a unique way. At their first ever pop-up stall along Orchard Road, for one, you can enjoy a Weekend Sundries craft workshop to create accessories as well as meet its designer, Michelle Chan. This is part of Samsung Fashion Steps Out 2013. 12 May, 4 pm. The store is near the Singapore Visitor Centre. Admission is free.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines 80th Anniversary Free Concert
Good music doesn’t have to cost you a thing. Just visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens to catch the 55-member orchestra of KLM employees and the KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Band for free. The green surroundings of the park make the perfect backdrop for their repertoire of classical tunes. 11 May, 5.30 pm. Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage. Admission is free.

Fei Yu Qing Live in Singapore 2013
The Taiwanese singer is known as the “King of Golden Voice” – and this concert will prove why. He will be performing his past and current hits from the album Only You – and may possibly entertain you with his impersonations of Liu Wen Zhen, Cai Qing, Jacky Cheung and Emil Chau too. 12 May, 8 pm. RWS Compass Ballroom. Tickets from $25.

Nike She Runs Singapore
This 5 km run – which has editions in other cities around the world – attracted 8,000 women here in Singapore. In fact, there weren’t any more slots available just 10 days after the launch. Come and cheer them on! 11 May, 5 pm. Gardens by the Bay.
