Beyonce might join a live-action Disney remake

Beyonce may be lending her voice to a "Lion King" character.

31 Mar – Disney has been going strong with the live-action remakes of its animated classics.

After "Alice in Wonderland" in 2010, then "Maleficent" in 2014, 2015's "Cinderella", 2016's "The Jungle Book" and the latest, "Beauty and the Beast", which was released recently, soon it will be "The Lion King's" turn.

While it's still unclear if the live action remake will be a musical or not, they've already got most of the cast decided, which includes Donald Glover as Simba and James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa.

What about the female lead, Nala?

According to Variety, director Jon Favreau has the perfect person in mind to play Simba's love interest: the queen herself, Beyonce.

But, wait. Beyonce hasn't said anything about the movie yet.

As pretty much everyone on the planet knows, Beyonce is currently pregnant-with twins. This was the main reason for her cancellation of her much anticipated performance at Coachella.

So, there is a chance that she may turn down the role due to pregnancy concerns.

However, since this is a voice acting role, it won't cause as much strain as a concert would. Also, sources say that the studio and director will "do whatever it takes to accommodate her schedule", so hope is not lost.

If Beyonce does say yes and if the movie does turn out to be a musical, then Nala needs to get her own solo song. Pretty please?

"The Lion King" was originally released in 1994 and, unexpectedly, became one of the highest grossing animated films of all time.

The film also won many awards, including two Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture and Best Original Score, and two Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song, which the new movie might win again with Beyonce lending her voice to it, fingers crossed.
