The best plastic-free Easter eggs for 2023
Whether or not you plan on giving up sweet treats for Lent, Easter is the perfect chance to finally indulge in delicious chocolate Easter eggs. It's the only time of year that eating chocolate for breakfast is socially acceptable!

However, given the negative effects excess packaging and plastic are having on our environment, a chocolate egg just doesn't taste quite as sweet when you consider the multiple layers of single-use material you've fought through to get to it.
Our love for everything chocolate-related and the environment is in equal measure, so we have scoured the internet for plastic-free Easter eggs and alternative chocolate treats to enjoy from Good Friday to Easter Monday.

Choose an Easter egg from their range and it'll come prettily packaged in a parchment box - a brilliant choice whether you give it as a gift, or plan to treat yourself!
Whilst not all of Hotel Chocolat's range of Easter eggs are plastic-free, they do have a great selection of ones that are. Their 36% White Chocolate Easter Egg features a fun, runny yolk design, perfect for someone who likes something a little bit different. Better still, it comes packaged in a fully recyclable box.
If you're on the hunt for an option free from animal products, we recommend their Extra Thick Unbelievably Vegan Easter Egg, which comes filled with extra chocolate treats. Instead of plastic, this egg is presented in an elegant keepsake tin, perfect for re-use throughout your home.
With delicious creations made from organic and Fairtrade-certified chocolate, Cocoa Loco has something for everyone. Handmade in West Sussex, each chocolate egg comes in plastic-free, compostable packaging.
If you can't choose between milk, white, or dark chocolate, then their Fairtrade Giant Marbled Chocolate Easter Egg is the one for you. Its thick shell conceals a stash of chocolate buttons inside. Ocado has plenty of options when it comes to Easter treats, especially chocolates and Easter eggs. Set up by husband and wife team, Andy and Claire Burnet, Chococo has been making fresh handmade chocolates since December 2002. Based on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, they use freshly sourced, seasonal ingredients. Environmentally conscious, 100% of their packaging is plastic-free and is also either recyclable or compostable.
