The Best Photos Of Meghan Markle And Prince Harry's Canada Trip
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in Canada!
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex kicked off their three-day trip to British Columbia by spending Valentine's Day on Whistler mountain. The royal couple are in town to celebrate one year to go until the 2025 Invictus Games. Next year's games will be the first winter edition of the sporting competition, so in advance, Invictus is holding a series of Participating Nations Training Camps for teams to experience winter adaptive sports for the first time.
"The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 will offer a global platform to expand the range and profile of winter adaptive sports," Harry said in a statement. "With deep respect, I’m also pleased to share that the Games in Canada will be held in partnership with the First Nations, in the spirit of truth and reconciliation with indigenous communities." According to Invictus, the Games "will be held on the traditional territories of the Lil̓wat7úl (Líl̓wat), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations," and they are "committed to engaging with each Nation, addressing Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, and respecting Indigenous protocols in all aspects of our Games." Prince Harry and Meghan's week has already involved First Nations communities—they attended a reception at the Squamish Líl̓wat cultural center on their first day, and then visited Mount Currie Community Centre on day two.
The Invictus Games are a cause that is very close to Prince Harry's heart, since he founded the event back in 2014. At the 2023 Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, he told competitors in his opening remarks, "Grasp every opportunity and revel in it. Because in your joy, in your happiness, in your achievements, we all win."

On the second day of their time in British Columbia, they went to the Mount Currie Community Centre, where they took part in a wheelchair basketball game.
They also met with members of the Líl̓wat Nation.
Then, it was off to Whistler Sliding Centre—where Prince Harry tried out skeleton.
Meghan was there to cheer him on, and looked winter chic in a navy outfit.
She filmed Harry as he tried out skeleton.
Despite the sunny day, it was quite cold next to the track.
She watched her husband zoom by. (He went 99 km/h!)
Prince Harry then did another run, and after Meghan was asked if she was going to try, she said there was no chance.
It marked another successful day in Whistler for the Duke and Duchess.

They were ready for the cold weather.
Meghan snapped a photo of Harry in the sit ski, borrowing a phone from an Invictus Games alumni.
She reportedly wanted to take a photo for their kids, Lili and Archie, to see.
The One Year to Go celebrations mark Harry and Meghan's first major joint appearance of 2024.
They spent time meeting athletes and trainers—there were 60 participants from 19 nations on the slopes.
Like the participants, Invictus Games staff, and gathered media, the royals took the gondola up to mid-mountain.
In the evening, Harry and Meghan toured Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre with Youth Ambassadors, Chief Nelson and Wilson Williams.
It marked an end to a successful first day in Whistler.
